Dr. Nimesh D. Desai is a Professor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Penn Aorta Center. He completed his cardiac surgery residency and a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. His clinical practice centers on complex aortic root repair, valve-sparing surgery, and the Ross procedure, along with the full range of aortic aneurysm and dissection care. He is a national leader in quality improvement for TAVR and aortic surgery, co-chairing the Society of Thoracic Surgeons' Aortic Surgery Task Force and its TAVR risk-modeling registry committee, and directs Penn's Thoracic Aortic Surgery Research Program, where he leads multiple clinical trials shaping the next generation of aortic and valve therapies.
