Mr Rajakaruna, graduated from the University of Leicester UK in 1998 and trained in cardiothoracic surgery in London, Brighton, Plymouth and Bristol Heart centres. He gained a postgraduate medical doctorate (MD) from the University of Bristol in 2006. Having gained his specialist training certification from the Royal College of Surgeons in adult cardiothoracic surgery in 2011. He completed an advanced aortic fellowship in aortic and endovascular surgery at the prestigious Yale Aortic Institute USA under the tutelage of Professor John Elefteriades in 2012. He was appointed as a consultant senior lecturer at the Bristol Heart Institute and University of Bristol in 2013.
Mr Rajakaruna held Clinical lead for cardiac surgery from 2016-2018, Clinical directorship of the Bristol Heart Institute from 2018-2022. He was the meetings secretary and trustee of the society for cardiothoracic surgery UK and Ireland from 2019 -2024.
Mr Cha Rajakaruna MB ChB MD FRCT (CT-h) is a consultant cardiac surgeon and the clinical lead for major aortic surgery at the Bristol Heart institute Bristol UK. He also subspecialises in minimally invasive aortic surgery, off pump coronary bypass surgery and atrial fibrillation surgery.
