Professor Arun Pherwani is Hon Professor at Keele University School of Medicine and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.
He was the first pure Vascular Surgeon to be appointed at the UHNM in May 2003, and led the expansion of vascular services forming the Staffordshire and South Cheshire Vascular Network in 2012.
Professor Pherwani has been Clinical Lead for the National Vascular Registry (NVR) & Chair of the Audit and Quality Improvement Committee for the VSGBI and has served on the Executive of the VSGBI. He is the UK’s representative on the VASCUNET collaboration and the International Consortium of Vascular Registries (ICVR). He is also the VASCUNET representative on the European Research Hub (ERH). He is a Member of the Board of Examiners for Vascular Surgery Joint Committee for Intercollegiate Exit Examinations (JCIE).
He is Joint Clinical lead for the National Consultant Information Programme (NCIP) for Vascular Surgery NHS England and Chair of the Specialised Services Devices Programme (SSDP) for Vascular NHS England.
Professor Pherwani is a recognised expert on Vascular Registries, data, coding and outcome reporting in vascular surgery to drive quality improvement and safety in patient care. His clinical and academic interests are in aortic aneurysmal disease, aortic dissection and thoracic outlet conditions.
